My sister has a couple of blue tits that keep coming and pecking at the glass on her kitchen window. She has recently cut back some shrubs on the trellis where the birds sometimes look for insects which is quite close to the window. Could this be anything to do with the birds behaviour?

Probably having a go at the reflections. Birds are getting territorial at this time of year.

They're probably pecking tiny insects off the glass. They do that on our walls too.
This year, I've seen clouds of tiny midge-like insects hovering close to hard surfaces and walls etc, its possible they are feasting on these.

Our midges have just appeared near the back door.

Count yourself lucky it's bluetits banging on the window - it's damned great seagulls round here :-(

There is mixed wild bird seed in the feeder.
They are probably complaining that the last restaurant has been demolished but the new owner has yet to set up the new one.
