I bought a pint of beer and a pint of premium lager in my local last night and it was £7.00! The lager was £3.75! More pub closures I predict.

as people stop going in the pub/club they have to put the price up hence why the club suziron goes in shuts the door and is for regulars only and their guests and allows smoking same thing happens at the pub nearby
A bit of an anomoly.

The price of a pint has risen 1948% in 40 years. From 14p to £2.70 (though that is probably more as a lot of pubs charge more than that).

Yet, pubs are closing in record numbers, and alcohol related deaths are rising.
Same, £3.75 for a pint of Kronenbourg in my local, and a shocking £5.29 for a glass of wine! :-/
Would it be irrational for me to suggest you stick to halves? ;)
£5.29 For a glass of wine ?? Streuth.....can get a half decent bottle for that !!
Murray, I couldn't believe it! Like you say, my usual bottle of wine never even cost that much!
and that's why me and mrs c have a drink indoors now,its to dear to go out!

Choux, it would as halves cost the equivalent of more than a pint.
Just the one half each, Mr Wembley ;)))))
Last night in our Social Club, large gin, pint of premium lager and a pint of IPA, £6.25.

OK, I know it's only a social club, but great atmosphere and a cheap pint, who could ask for more?
It would seem that I am lucky with Wetherspoons, as both of the nearest ones to me are very good. In fact one is the HQ of the Swansea CAMRA Branch !

don't be daft, many of the pubs aren't full in the afternoon, some of ours get a bit busy, but that is office wallahs, especially on fridays
Pubs aren't full of people on benefits. It's just what people like to think when they see people outside smoking during the day.

People have days off, they get rained off, work strange hours, finish early when jobs have been completed etc etc.
Bouncer33 > If as many people believe, that pubs in the afternoon are full of people on benefits, how can they afford four pounds a pint, <

lots of people work shifts some if they want a pint have to have a couple in the afternoon after they finish work
