Doesn't SMP's post in Body and Soul put all our moans and groans into perspective?

Yes, I thought I was lucky to have reached the age I have and to be alive to keep on moaning. Something that that precious child won't be able to do.

No.

Devastating news but I don't think people can't feel sad about their own problems just because someone elses are considered worse.

That's just not fair.
yes it did mine this am masma, even not knowing the person it made me feel very sad, bless them .
Same here masma, even though I don't know this little family I can only imagine the horror and sadness this has caused.
Agree with ummmm, absolutely not. Just because someone else receives terrible news, it does not mean that your own personal problems go away or that you are in someway out of order to feel bad about things happening in your life. That's just martyrdom which I think is a ridiculous state of mind.
It made me think about the petty items which are irritating me, and how they are nothing compared with that - similar to quoi's sad post a few days back about finding his cat dead in the kitchen, I could personally relate to that.

We can only respond in the way which each piece of news affects us personally - but sadly, people die all the time, we can sympathise and empathise, but not say that this thing is more significant than our own issues. That's different.

While it's incredibly sad to hear about this sort of thing, it's a hell of a lot more prevalent than people think....been there, done that....twice.

I've left SMP mt condolences and some advice but in the grand scheme of things we each have our own problems to deal with and no matter what other people are going through, what's relevant to us at any particular point is far more important than someone elses issues, no matter how sad they are
Disagree slapshot. My friends and family all have their problems but, at the moment, thank goodness, nothing like what has happened to SMP's family.
