Daughter here... stealing the mothers account (just incase some of you thought it was her!)
I am starting University in September to do Child Nursing and I have been told to buy a certain book to read before I start Uni... the only problem is I can't find it anywhere! It was an updated edition this year (in May apparently) and is called, 'The Essentials of Human Anatomy and Physiology' 8th Edition by 'Marieb'.
So, with that in mind, is anyone aware of a website that sells used and unwanted university textbooks?

A bit of a long shot, but the only one I know of is Greenmetropolis.

amazon usually lists second-hand as well as new - I've got quite a few of my text books that way
ebay? amazon? University bookshops sold 2nd books in my day, don't know whether they still do!
Look on eBay, look on Amazon. Look - there's one on Amazon now

yes, just looked& there are some on amazon.
You ought to be able to get all your course readers in your University bookshop, have you checked there? You probably won't find second hand such a new edition, people won't have had time to read and digest it yet, let alone pass it on. The amazon ones may not be the latest edition - they've certainly chosen an expensive book to get you going!
It's here in our local nursing University bookshop, you can order the 9th edition on line (if it's the same one, first on the list) http://www.canterbury...mily&listByDeptBtn=go
you can get that book in loads of places...just google it and do try amazon. i read it for my nursing course and it was great as i didn't take biology when i was at school...and that was 15 years before i started the course. it is a MUST read to get yourself to the required standard and i have used mine as a reference for the last nine years to understand the plumbing and mechanics of the body. good luck! x
The 8th edition wasn't published earlier this year! It was published in January, 2005.

The latest edition is the 10th, which was published in March, and which is available directly from the publisher:

It's unlikely that you'll be able to get the most recent edition secondhand but, when looking for any secondhand books, it's always worth trying the UK's biggest online website for them:

In my experience, older editions aren't necessarily useless. Often tutors will realise that not all students can afford the brand new edition and will still be able to quote old page numbers. When I did a law class recently, some of the legislation had been updated but there were refences to the updates o the publisher's websites but I'm sure that anatomy and physiology won't have changed much
sorry, <references>
p.s. as i discovered going through uni, there isn't really anywhere you can get cheap decent textbooks. they cost a bomb...but that's what you get your bursary for! x

Thankyou Everyone for your prompt replies!

I have used the link Buenchico sent (Thankyou especially) as I had already tried Amazon, Play, Ebay, waterstones etc. One of those sites were asking for £100!! The Bursary better come through if thats what I'm going to be paying over the next 3 years! Haha!

Thanks again all, signing off!
