Why Is It That Many Folk Can't Spell 'independence' Correctly?

picture, word association, that is something i understand,
useful tool in remembering difficult words.

some other words which trip me up time and again, spelling and saying.

Speaking for myself. I was doing 13hr night shifts in the North Sea to subsidise the halcyon, pot- filled, student days of the good spellers. (And the cheap beer in the Students Union, Grrrr)

Why do people assume graduates can spell. From experience I would say most can't.

i second that, some of the CV's sent in by graduates were appalling.
I sat in on interview panels, the candidates were often late, poorly dressed, and mumbled their way through the interviews. Those were the ones with half decent qualifications.
