Quite surprised nobody has posted a comment here.

I like this from the Vatican's response:

"reiterates its commitment to defending and protecting the rights of the child... according to the moral and religious values offered by Catholic doctrine."

In another article I saw they claimed they were leading the way in child protection policy.

Dear Birdie and all in this thread,
Thanks for informing beso and co that you, me and others are in mid-flow in an identical thread.
Please join us folks as we have all spent a lot of effort and need your views.
SIQ.

The Vatican will always protect its own people (I use that word loosely): not so long ago the while the scandal hit the churches in New York it was suggested that the victims were to blame for leading the clergy on: I cannot write what I really think as I would be barred for a year or more. Suffice it to say, sad though it must be admitted, such an unnecessary evil as child abuse will never be completely eradicated, as there will always be people out there who will protect their own.
Dear all,
In following Birdie's hyperlink to sandy's post ignore the poem as he adds the UN/RC discussion as an extra.
Regards,
SIQ.
Since birdie's post to this site (01.31 Sat 08th Feb 2014) and his
mid-discussion with me on the almost identical topic (01.11 Sun 09 Feb 2014) he has disappeared! He was in full flow on the other site and it would be out of character for him just to disappear.
Suppose weather may have shut him down but I am concerned about him.
Anyone know of birdie's whereabouts please?
With many thanks,
SIQ.

Ooo err . . . keyplus?
Dear All,
Birdie has returned. Sadly he has done so full of venom and disgracefully malicious language.
To see birdie reveal his true colours, visit his hotlink above (01.31 Sat 08th Feb 2014). Please ignore mibn2cweus's link below - it refers to the wrong link.
With regret and shocked,
SIQ.
Come on SIQ! At least give the girls and boys a hyper-link to our debate. That way they can all see for themselves what actually transpired. I shall save you the trouble:

I find it amusing that you are apparently, "shocked" at my "disgraceful" and "disgusting" post(s). It's interesting and informative to observe the reactions of those people with whom you are conversing when they lose an argument and/or make such a hash of it. In such cases I think it is intellectually dishonest not to point out the absurdity of their position and the glaring ineptitude of their method of argument.

I called you a cretin and pointed out that some of your arguments were foolish - that is why you are so apparently shocked and disgusted. I'm not going to apologise for it since I think the title is warranted in this case. If you're an honest and truthful person you will re-read our exchanges and (begrudgingly) conclude that my analysis is correct. Your stance on the UN's demands to the Church is absurd and morally bereft. Your binary question to me was - as I have already pointed out - a logical fallacy and your reaction to my answer was equally asinine. In fact, as I now think of it, your question combined two logical fallacies in one: it was also a "loaded question". So congratulations for that. I don't think I've ever come across that one before.

In short, your argument was weak, ill-thought out, badly argued and without merit. If pointing that out makes me a bad person then I'm guilty as charged.
