Having grown up with being able to pop out on a Sunday in the Uk and buy just about anything. Now living in Swiss Land , where everything shuts on a Sunday and the only place you can shop is at airports or train stations.
Would you miss Sunday shopping , if it we went back to everything more or less shuts on a Sunday ?

PS It is very strange to arrive at Zurich airport on a Sunday and in the supermarket (Migros or COOP) people are doing proper food shops ,bags of potatoes and all.

I wouldn't miss Sunday shopping, when I was growing up nothing opened on a Sunday. I shop in the week and make sure I have enough.

You do have to adjust your mind set.
Once or twice in the early days, I would think ...oh we can pop out Sunday and buy a new Iron/Microwave etc ...then remember , no I can't, need to get it Saturday.
Are you able to buy Sunday newspapers?
Can't remember the last time I did a grocery shop on a Sunday but I do occasionally do a non-grocery shop.

@Psybbo - Never thought about Sunday papers. I guess you can , but only from Station Kiosks.
Even when I was in the UK, I stopped buying the Sunday papers some years back.
Since the freezer packed up some time ago, I shop daily and would miss Sunday shopping.

Don't buy the papers though, they're blooming expensive!
I'll bet living in that beautiful country more than makes up for any inconvenience, I envy you.

@Psybbo - Well, I must admit It is rather nice. No snow where we are at ground level this year so far. That pesky Jet Stream has bought us pleasant weather for this time of year. But lots of snow on the Alps and hills around us.
The Swiss have got life sorted you could say. Also nice low tax rates :-)
22% max in the bit where I live and that's if you earn over £700K a year lol
Health care is good and environment nice and clean and they are under the thumb of Brussels and the EU. The people here get to vote and it happens.

Not under the thumb of Brussels and EU.
Correct my typo
Interesting that people who can get to the airport shops do go and shop on sunday though. I don't think I'd miss it. I don't go out every day anyway.
I sooo envy you ...all that lovely snow!!!
To answer your question...no I would not miss shopping on Sunday..I like to stay in and chill out.I now shop online so rarely go a supermarket for my weekly shop.Oh the wonders of the net!!
I suppose that for people who work full time, being able to shop on a Sunday is a boon. I try to avoid Sunday food shopping as Sainsbury's is always packed....and there are lots of squawky children about.

I keep on wanting to shout at the Swiss ..."Don't do it ...don't go down the path of shops being open on a Sunday".

Very easy to drive to the snow / ski resorts from where we are.
Klosters for example is a 1 hour drive and the nearest ski area only 25/30 minutes away.
Online shopping has not taken off here , like it has in the UK.
Not sure why ...
They are respecting Sundays as a day of rest
