I'm just sat here listening to the gales outside and I wondered what you would do if something major happened to your house - say the roof blew off -at this time of night no where would be open and you couldn't get any building supplies etc

Yes I do have some odd thoughts but there is a grain of seriousness in there

You and me both gness. I have been trying to sort my files and folders recently to make sure we could lay our hands on the relevant documents and phone numbers if we needed them in an emergency. I'm going to keep an old fashioned notebook with them all listed, no point in having it all buried away in folders or worse still, in an inbox when we might be in a panic and the...

Play the poor old OAP card.
Its blowing a hooley out there but you don't need to worry unless you see your neighbors tights fly past your window!
Be extra worried if your neighbor is still wearing them!! ;-)
Silly question perhaps but do you not have an SES ...emergency services unit who comes out to help in these situations or are they just so thinly spread with all the dramas it's not worth trying ?
All local authorities have a 24-hour social services emergency phone number. They, in turn, all have 24-hour contacts with organisations such as the British Red Cross who train for such emergencies. (It's often the Red Cross that find emergency accommodation for people that have lost their homes through fires, so the Fire Service is another contact point for them).
