...Copy and paste on a PC usually works like this.......... Select any file and then click on Edit at the top of the screen and select COPY from the menu............ This puts a copy of that file onto a virtual Clipboard which is already part of Windows....

Decide on where you want to save the file, say My Documents or any folder you want and open that folder ..then either select edit again and choose PASTE from the menu or right click in the folder and choose PASTE from that menu..........the file you put on the "clipboard" will appear in the folder. It will stay on the clipboard until you shutdown or COPY something else....

Not sure if that is just what you want but if you post a link to a particular site with an example of just what you want to do I will have a look ....commoner

thx i have inserted this link -i am still very confused as i can only paste into word /text documents , i cannot paste into new folder - what format/file type should it be ? http://www.hotget.com/findit.php?type=2&source=1&kterm=Feeder

The clipboard is not quite what it seems. All it comes down to is a teeny space in your computers memory that you can move stuff to that can then be transferred to anything else.
For example, if you double click the paragraph above it should high light. If you then do ctrl and c, you will have copied that part to the clipboard.
Open a word document then click ctrl and p.
This also works with files. Open explorer; find the file you want to copy. Click it so that the file is highlighted then click ctrl and the letter c. Now, navigate to the folder you want the file copied to and click ctrl and the letter p.
Voila... If you need me to explain further I can ok...
