In the police pre-Christmas drink-drive prevention campaign, I was stopped driving out of a pub car park. I had been there eating, not drinking and feel that stopping someone coming out of a pub car park is not random, it seems more to me like targeting what might seem obvious culprits. I wasn't guilty but if they just target pubs, eventually they will "get" somebody but shouldn't they be spreading the net wider than that? Thoughts would be welcomed! And it would be interesting to hear from anybody else who has been "stopped".

A few months ago we were stopped at about 10.30am on a Tuesday morning on our way to a holiday. Every car at the time was being pulled over. We were soon on our way, but the previous car was still being 'interviewed'
To be honest, I'm quite happy for the police to be targeting drivers as they come out of the pub car park. Seems quite sensible to start looking at the place where people are drinking.

I hope that they don't just target pubs though. I'm sure that they are stopping folk on the open road too.
if you are driving and go to the pub for a meal then dont drink, its simple really,if the police see a motorist pulling off a pub car park especially at this time of year then it is possible is that you will get stopped...obviously they wont stop EVERY car.. the police do a good job in my eyes, and if they find just 1 person who has pulled off a pub car park who has had a drink and is stupid enough to drive then its a result...and may have just saved a life...

Seems like an ideal place to look to catch people to me. They are stopping people in other places too.
moral : dont park in pub car park
Morethan. I once worked in a pub which was the regular haunt of the C I D. They drank all night including after hours and most of them drove home.
Where's the best place to find drink drivers?

Why not target obvious culprits?
tamborine...so you are saying park elsewhere...go to the pub...have a skinful...return to your car...and drive....

The early morning checks will be starting soon !.
I'm happy with that, Soliloquy. Where would you like the police to stop possible drink drivers?
not at all MrsM, not everyone is so stupid.
Can't see why this should be a problem. You passed the check OK, and you should be grateful that your local Plods are taking the process of detecting drunk drivers seriously. Nobody wants to meet a drunk driver coming the other way.

Be thankful !
they are doing their job and if this means they stop one drunken idiot from driving and possibly killing someone well i am all for it ! be it pub car park or anywhere
Seems an ideal place to begin. The very presence of them being there in the first place might make drivers, who intend to take a risk, think twice.
The best thing is-not to drink surely?
Bit of a no brainier really, can't think of a more obvious place for the police to check possible drink drivers. Where would you suggest they do it?
Seems perfectly sensible to me. Presenting anyone who was over the limit from driving too far. If you want honey, go to a hive.
