I won a ride on toy on ebay for 45p. Collection only, which I was happy to do given it was advertised as my town.

When I had won, the address was actually 9 miles away,18 mile round trip!. I contacted the seller saying I had been misled as it would cost me to collect at that distance and I wasn't prepared to make the journey.

I now see I have an ebay message telling me to pay for my goods...I won't be doing so, so may get bad feedback. A chance I have to take.

Anyone else been mislead in this way on ebay?

I must say, I was surprised at the 'tone' of some of replies cuppa received.
I don't 'do' e-bay, but I think 9 miles is a bit of a stretch for the same town. If you've got a car and you think you've saved a few hundred quid it would be worth the trip. Imo, the seller is being ridiculously intransigent for the sake of 45p. If something similar happened to me I'd be telling anyone who'd listen, including my AB friends.
really though? . Once you bid, you are legally obliged to complete the transaction. The seller is now going to have to go through the hassle of relisting the item, and waiting another week or so before its gone. It's not the sellers fault that the bidder didn't look where it was before bidding on an item that needs to get picked up
45p??? I would just it to the charity shop, why bother listing it once let alone twice
Yeah, never thought of that. And, of course, there's the interest on the 45p to be considered. ;)

The bidder did look, Bednob. As I said, 9 miles is a stretch when represented as same town.
ebay give you the facility to tell you how far away an item is from your home in miles by comparing your postcode to the sellers. The bidder just didn't look.
Look at all the trouble you and your flipping 45p toy have caused, cupotee. I hope you're pleased with yourself, lol. ;-)
:) i probably seemed mean, sorry. ive been mucked around by buyers before, and its irritating
It seems that people in the UK have a different conception of distances. I find it difficult to consider a round trip of 18 miles a long journey.
could you ask the seller to deliver and pay him £3 petrol
I'm glad you're paying - you are obliged to. I must admit that for anything I've sold where the buyer collects, they've always contacted me and asked whereabouts I live, before finalising the deal. Our town name covers quite a large area, including several villages..
