I won a ride on toy on ebay for 45p. Collection only, which I was happy to do given it was advertised as my town.
When I had won, the address was actually 9 miles away,18 mile round trip!. I contacted the seller saying I had been misled as it would cost me to collect at that distance and I wasn't prepared to make the journey.
I now see I have an ebay message telling me to pay for my goods...I won't be doing so, so may get bad feedback. A chance I have to take.
I must say, I was surprised at the 'tone' of some of replies cuppa received.
I don't 'do' e-bay, but I think 9 miles is a bit of a stretch for the same town. If you've got a car and you think you've saved a few hundred quid it would be worth the trip. Imo, the seller is being ridiculously intransigent for the sake of 45p. If something similar happened to me I'd be telling anyone who'd listen, including my AB friends.
really though? . Once you bid, you are legally obliged to complete the transaction. The seller is now going to have to go through the hassle of relisting the item, and waiting another week or so before its gone. It's not the sellers fault that the bidder didn't look where it was before bidding on an item that needs to get picked up
ebay give you the facility to tell you how far away an item is from your home in miles by comparing your postcode to the sellers. The bidder just didn't look.
I'm glad you're paying - you are obliged to. I must admit that for anything I've sold where the buyer collects, they've always contacted me and asked whereabouts I live, before finalising the deal. Our town name covers quite a large area, including several villages..
