Somebody has just set up a spreadsheet for me to use. I realised afterwards, that I should have asked if it is possible to have the spreadsheet as an Icon when I open my computer instead of going into Documents; My Documents etc

Thank you.

minimise all your applications so you can see your desktop. Then find the spreadsheet in documents/mydocuments (or wherever!). Then drag it from the box onto your desktop.
Open the folder containg the spreadsheet file

Right-click on the file and drag to your desktop

When you release the mouse button select create shortcut here.

Double-clicking the icon will then open up the spreadsheet

THank you both for replying. I dont know what I'm doing wrong but I cant do it:-(

Oh Ive done it. There was a bit that said "send to" so i had a look there and it said "desktop". Thanks again:-)
the first suggestion above copies the actual document to the desk top, the seconde creates a shortcut but leaves the doc where it is. The latter is better for keeoping the docs in one place.

I sort of understand, but I couldn't get it to drag. I wonder which one I've done???!!! I'm truly hopeless, although once I'm shown, I'm fine. Thanks again.
