They rang me at work yesterday to say I had not been successful as there were 'other candidates with more relevant experience', basically I am taking it that I would have been a shift supervisor/team leader in a grocery store and that's not what I've had experience in. Hope it wasn't my age, but I don't think it was. Never mind, onwards and upwards, stay where I am for now : (

Ah well dot, it's their loss eh?
Never mind, remember sqad 's aphorism.." If it is easy to get, it is not worth having" and that applies to most things in life.

So sorry to hear that Dot. Rejection of any kind is a blow to the ego.
I am a great believer in things happen/don't happen for a reason, and this job was not meant to be for you. x
Aw, sorry to hear that, dot, as you'd put so much into it. Their loss, and as you say, onwards and upwards. :-)
Grocery doesn't sound as glamorous as shoes
Sorry to hear about your disappointment Dot. Thinking of you, sure something better will come along and at least you had the experience of the interview. x
hey dotty i feel the same, except i just got a cut and pasted email!
Never mind, dotty - and they're not allowed to age discriminate any longer! I went for a really nice job a couple of years ago, but I didn't get it (like you, "the calibre of applicants was very high, and others had more relevant experience", and with hindsight I am really glad I didn't, I wouldn't be where I am now.

However, I did contact them and ask for interview feedback, and they sent me some really comprehensive feedback which was very useful for another time. Worth asking for that re your own interview.
Sorry to hear that Dot.

My mum was made redundant from the Treasury a couple of weeks ago. She's going to have a rest for a few months and then look for agency work.
Dotty, I hope a new and even better opportunity comes along very soon.
Ditto! ^^
son went for an interview at the university and he didn't get it,yet he worked there for 7 years and they trained him,and they didn't want him to leave,he thought he had the job,but no.
>"and they're not allowed to age discriminate any longer"

You are of course right in theory, boxtops, but I am sure it still goes on
Sorry to hear that Dot, but their loss and as mrs_o says, something better may well turn up.

thanks guys, I'm quite chilled about it as it had only been a spur of the moment thing when I had bothered to read the emails from the jobsite, I usually delete them, still, the thought of 70% discount on waitrose food had a certain appeal lol
best of luck Dot, there seems to be a lot of people in a similar situation. I've heard good things about a site called indeed.com but haven't looked at it myself
Sorry to hear that Dot, but you are no worse off, that's what I always tell myself if I don't get something I didn't have before if you know what I mean.
Hey dot, chin up, at least you didn't send the 'stick the job up your arse' resignation letter
