I was going to try a stroganoff recipe but don't have any red wine vinegar (and don't really want to buy any if I can help it).

Is there anything I could use instead (red wine?!) or shall I just leave it out?

Thanks!

Half red wine, half Worcestershire sauce
I'd buy a cheap red wine vinegar (Aldi, say)...it's useful for lots of things and keeps a very long time. 99p, I believe.

Thanks both!
atalanta - great idea, will give it a nice tang too!

ginge - I'll have a look next time I'm in Aldi, it's not something I'd use often but might be worth it.
