Are the price of Indian and Chinese takeways getting to dear.
I normally have an Indian takeaway of Chicken Vindaloo .Chicken Tikka Starter and Pillau Rice. 4 years ago this was £6.20 now it is £10.50 . My Chinese is hot singapore chow mein and Special curry. Was £6.00 now £9.00. It's hardly any difference to eating out now.

Fish and chips is cheaper.
Everything is dearer now gollob, sign of the times!
takeaway fish and chips used to be a weekly event, now it's an occasional treat
They're rising in line with inflation over the years - and if people will pay, they'll charge it. We'd rather have quality than price - this town is awash with takeaways so at least we have a good choice.
my local Chinese takeaway does a curry with either boiled rice or chips for £3.60.(fried rice 20p extra).
You'll be lucky to get a single main course dish in a sit-in restaurant for £10.50 these days....
I've never thought of takeaway Chinese or Indian as a cheap option. With the extras and bits and bobs we pay £20 to £25 for two.
Hmmm. Think I'll order some chicken and cashew and rice now...I'll let you know
You can sure put away a lot of food in one sitting can't you! The chow mein alone would fill me up, I certainly couldn't eat a curry as well.
Agree, prudie - our locals have a £15 minimum cost for delivery, you're not going to get it much cheaper than that.
where do you live baza?, as its a bit on the cheap side
That is really very cheap for where I live!

Main courses are £6-11, rice/noodle £2-6, veg sides £3-6.

A set meal for 1 is £16.50 at the local Indian restaurant or £14.50 at the Chinese.
£7 for fish n chips here..
The price of rice went up dramatically and portions shrank after failed harvests but like sugar, coffee, orange juice and others it never came back down cos we're soft enough to keep paying their inflated prices.
Cashew chicken, rice and sesame prawn toast just ordered. £15.40 and free delivery (over £10).

Eccles , very interested to know what main courses cost £11 and likewise rice/ noodles £6.00, and side dishes cost £6.00.
You must be mad if you pay those prices , I can buy 6 whole chickens for less than that.
I believe the upper end of the price bracket represents the king prawn/prawn dishes.

pixie's meal round here £9.20 free delivery over £8
Sorry, I submitted before finishing my post.

I'm not at all mad, I simply appreciate what I am eating, how it is sourced and how it is raised/grown.

Personally I very rarely eat prawns but will forgive Mr Cake for his preference.

Cheap meat is not my preferred route for protein as I am very particular about animal welfare and am unlikely to ever eat a chicken that costs under £2.

If you are happy with that then good for you enjoy your Sunday roast.

What a odd reply fromEcclely nobody knows where the food in Chinese and Indian takeaways com from, or the supermarket variety as well. I was in the poultry and meat business many years ago and tried to break into the takeaway chicken fillet market. I did not get anywhere as my fresh chicken fillets were 50 pence a pound dearer than what the takeaways were paying. They were all being supplied with frozen french chicken fillets.
Where did the chickens under £2.00 come from. Nobody mentioned them. I do not think they exist
