Black and White Movie

I am trying to find out the name of a black and white film I saw about 10 years ago. It's an old film possibly from the 40's. It is about a scientist/Dr. that discovers a way to capture your soul and then you can live forever. Does anyone know what the film is?

Not B&W and not 40's, but it sounds a little like "The Asphyx" with Robert Powell.

Hi, thanks, i've had a look for info on this film and it does appear to be the one. I can't think what made me think it was black and white, must be me thinking in black and white because it was so long since i've seen the film. Thanks again :)
