I fainted or something. Came over all weak & dizzy at work, sat down to catch my breath with head on lap and fell of chair - lol.

I had a MOT checkup on Tuesday and nurse said I was borderline High blood pressure? At todays mishap a nearby doc checked me with those tight arm blowups, pulled eyelids down, follow finger, hold arms out with eyes closed and brought me round with smelling salts. He said I had low blood pressure....I cant remember numbers.

Visiting doc said I should take salt tablets, 2 litres water pd (I never drink water).

Question = high or low BP and could this be due to tobacco withdrawal ?

ps I took an aspirin in case of stroke ;)

low blood pressure can do that. I suffered from low blood pressure through both of my pregnancies it was a nightmare, I felt like i was going to pass out many times.

I'm not sure about tobacco withdrawl although I really can't see a connection.
did they not send you to a & e, the other month when i went like that i was in an ambulance and had an mri scan straight away.

thanx puddleduck but its 30y since my last child. Fat chance of me being preggars ever again.
My wife had the same. Was also told to make sure she drank at least 2 litres of fluid a day and make sure she had salt in her food.
'Fluid' does not have to be water , fruit juice , milk, tea ,even coffee all count but not alcohol . Alcohol is the only one that actually takes out more fluid than it puts in . She was also told to look at the colour of her pee! it should be a pale straw colour, if it is yellow that is a sign of dehydration and not drinking enough fluid
The current fad for not having salt on anything is causing problems according to her doctor , he is seeing constant problems with salt deficiency. Too little salt causes far more problems than too much , salt is essential to us we can not survive without it.
lol Tamborine I didn't mean it like that I just meant that low blood pressure can cause blackouts.

Havent got salt tabs, will neat cooking salt do - I can sswallow a tspoon followed by a slurp of tea.

oh so that's a blackout....you learn summat new everyday ;)

One doc said dont drive & t'other said am ok to drive?
You really do need to make the effort to actually drink a litre or so of water or juice etc, a 'slurp of tea' will not do . Drink an entire pot of tea if that is all the fluid you can manage to drink. The salt needs to be very well diluted with fluid or it may make you vomit and that will be worse!
Should have said low BP is what you have , tobacco withdrawal has nothing to do with it. Do not know what the nurse was talking about but she seems to be wrong, the doc has it right your symptoms are classic low BP.

Ive got ribena & salt, think I could stomach that in a wine glass or few.....ugh schitt that's sickly :(

1/2 a teaspoon of salt in a pint glass of ribena should be fine but you really do need to drink at least a pint of fluid. Look at the colour of your pee next time you 'go' and check it is pale straw colour and not yellow, if it is yellow you are not drinking enough fluid.
Surely you could just add a bit of salt to your food, rather than taking it with drinks (Ribena and salt - uurggh!)
