Someone was asking for recommendations the other day, and as I've been sorting out all my books I've picked the following six to lend to someone I know as I think they're all good reads.
The bolter by Frances Osborne
The 19th wife by David ebershoff
The hidden child by camilla lackberg
The Friday night knitting club by Kate Jacobs
The best of times by penny vincenzi
The crimson rooms by Katherine McMahon
All worth a google I think, to see if you might like them, I thoroughly enjoyed all six but particularly enjoyed the bolter and the 19th wife.

I enjoyed The 19th Wife; it was very informative as to the early years of LDS.

I am reading my way through Camilla Lackberg's Hedstrom/Falke and have recommended them to anyone who will listen.
Have you read, 'The Haunted House' by Hugo First?
I'm sure I would enjoy the Friday Night Knitting Club - I read a novel on holiday last year about a woman who ran a wool shop in the States, I loved it and it inspired me to knit nibble a pair of kilt socks (an ambition, but once done, never again!).
Thank you for the list. I will put them on my list. of "must reads"

Thanks jack, have just downloaded 'the preacher' to my kindle :)
You had me going there khandro, been googling like mad then the penny dropped, no wonder I couldn't find it ;)
Boxy, it could be the one you read, sounds very like it.
Georgiesmum, I hope you enjoy any or all of them.
I would add anything by Robert Goddard and Cathy Kelly. I have enjoyed everything both of them have written, but my main interest is crime fiction.
ethandron; You could also try "My Life as a Gigolo" by Hugh Geoffery Knight.
:-)
