At first glance it looks like a message my computer is putting up. ‘Clean your PC’ – with an ‘OK’ button to click – which brings up the company’s website.

It’s appearing next to the Best Answer box, so you can’t avoid seeing it - and I clicked on the 'OK' without realising it is an advert. Any chance of moving it to a less prominent location?

"Tweak" ? Is that the company? Can you remember the website address? (Even roughly)
I haven't seen that, naomi - I've got Smart Life insurance in that slot.

If you can give me more information I can get rid of it - I'll pick this up on Monday.
Hi Jordyboy9, I guess that as my question and your answer were removed means that it's a no go area.
19.24 Friday just appeared on answerbank sys tweak-clean up your pc with a warning and click here sign, which I did not do,appeared just alongside left hand side of latest posts.

Ed, I haven't seen it again, but will take more details if I do.

In the interim, the advert for Thetford Garage Doors - www.thetfordgaragedoor.co.uk - is producing the 'cross scripting' message that was causing concern a while ago.

Boxy, Hilton Hotels seem to be targeting me. Perhaps they know I'm a fan.
There is a triangle up in the right hand corner, and if you click onto that you can choose to turn ads appearing "off": though, beware, I tried turning Yahoo off and the info tells you that you cannot unless you have a Yahoo account, which I deleted many moons ago.

No triangle on my screen.

Naomi: if you look at the ad's right hand corner, there is a blue triangle and if you put your cursor over it it should show ad choices, click there and you should be able to turn certain ads off, unless adsense from google comes up, in which case, if you are on gmail go into you email account and click onto "why do I see this ad", and from there you should be able to choose which ads you want to block.
Question Author
Yes, I think everyone does get different ads - but I don't know why I got one about cleaning my PC. It wouldn't occur to me that it needed cleaning, so definitely not been googling for PC cleaners.

Spoonboy, ahh, I see it - but you have to register to do that, and I'm not keen on registering anywhere - except here of course.
I'd look online about adchoices and see if you can do something there without registering then. But, if registering to block certain ads is helpful, then surely doing so far outweighs doing nothing?! It's worth a thought, I think.
Question Author
Spoonboy, thanks for your help - it's appreciated - but I really don't mind the ads generally - I know they pay for the site. However, sometimes they create problems - and I know the people who adminster the site want to know if they do - that's all.
cheers for the extra info - sadly not enough to get the "tweak" ad however.
I'm having trouble finding your garage doors Naomi - but I have blocked the url
Question Author
Ed, thanks. Haven't seen the Tweak one again - but will watch out for it.
