Just watched this, amazed how upbeat the man was. Not bitter at all. He was so thrilled after the op. to be able to wear proper clothes. I thought he was so brave to have it shown so openly on tv.

My nephew was the producer of the programme. He heard about it when in Las Vegas in 2011. He has been working on it for a year. He had to film the 13 hour operation in its entirety!

I only watched a few minutes, before falling asleep in front of the TV !
But why did he wait so long before he eventually had his op ?

mikey, there was no surgeon in his State that was prepared to do it. If he went to a different State he would have to pay (US laws) - thousands and thousands of dollars which he did not have.

Eventually an out of state surgeon agreed to do it at no cost - primarily because he wanted the experience.
