I am a private tenant. When I moved into my current home I was advised by my letting agency to take out specialist tenant insurance from a company they recommended. i did this and pay about £24 per month for it. I am due to move again very shortly (with.another agency) who have not insisted I use these same insurers andI have found online quotes for as little as £4 or month.
Should I be looking for special tenant policies with deposit / damage protection, or are 'normal' ones by well-known companies ok ?
Thanks

Meant to add - price comparison websites all come up about 60%cheaper than I am already paying
A long as you have tenants insurance that covers what's needed, doesn't really matter how much you pay for it.
I suspect the agent took you for a ride!
It is for you to decide whether you want any special insurance, such a deposit/damage, or an ordinary contents policy. Whichever, make sure you read the policy carefully & fully understand what it entitles you to. There is no reason to get a policy through the agent - it is very likely any they offer would be dearer than buying direct.
