What is 4 and half percent on £20,000 - thanks - I make it £1,800 is that correct or wrong

no 4.5% of 20,000 is 900
Don't know where the two years came in either but if you invest £20,000 at 4.5% over two years the interest is usually added annually. This would make the total interest £1,840.50.
