Anyone here seen something they have thought of become an actual product (and if so, what was the process).

Do you mean thought up and subsequently developed, or thought of before someone else actually did it?
I have been through the Patent process. The first thing you have to do and remember is to say nothing to no one at all about it before the patent is granted! Before you process the idea you then need to ask yourself, does the idea have the three things required to be classed as worth a patent. These (things) must be new, novel, and inovative! The idea should be not an adaptation of something already in use iether. Talk to a patent attorney, you will have one in your area!

Thanks both, meant thought of and then subsequently developed.
If the product has been “developed” have you had this done for you by an outside company ? If so, this may compromise your Patent unless already granted!!
I worked in electronic design and manufacturing for a company. We had some penetration into niche markets with some of the ideas I had. It is a team effort though.

However it takes a lot of investment to produce a really successful product. The idea is just the beginning. As Edison said, "one percent inspiration, 99 percent perspiration."
