Not sure its evidence of anything to do with universities, more of a comment of the chaotic lives some young people lead perhaps
Years ago students could have a steady time at university and end up with a lower 2. From what you hear, most students have more deadlines to meet today, plus the need to exist and study without the grants and scholastic awards that older generations enjoyed

Not always Peter. Some of us in the mountaineering club were fond of climbing buildings by night and several of us ended up in Bow St. as a result, but we never had more than a telling off.
Being before the beak in Bow Street for climbing a building is very Jeeves and Wooster, or maybe a bit Brideshead Revisited.

That sort of thing is almost expected of one when one is at Uni.
