Yes, if you suddenly realise that you have put a small amount of diesel in a petrol car you can get away with it if you fill right up with diesel and dilute the petrol. It will run ok on 5% petrol possibly even 10% . I had around 50/50 . People used to deliberately put a bit of petrol in diesel in winter to stop it waxing up.
On the dash above the Ign key, a sticker in bold7 in colour " DIESEL" Also as said, on the OUTSIDE of the fuel cap untill she gets used to it.
something like this? the motoring equivalent of the large hotel key tag

I have had a diesel car for 7 years and still make myself double check and say "diesel diesel, is it diesel?" at the pump evey time!

vigilance is the only answer! :-)
I find that pulling into a fuel station and seeing the price of the sodding diesel is enough to remind you that you're about to have to buy some.
Oh you are awful JJ,but I like you. Lol.

I have a simple method of rememebering.

I only ever put diesel in trucks and buses, and petrol into cars.

Diesel cars? No way.
"my other car is a diesel car"

Whilw we are at it, why do we still call the other stuff unleaded?
yes mine says diesel quite clearly on the fuel cap.

you could also write it on your keyfob and the inside of the fuel cap cover, and also near the button that opens the fuel cap cover.

make stickers or write with a silver marker

also remember that the hose is black.

you will get used to it though - i used to have petrol.
Hopkirk it is called unleaded as it does not contain Lead which the old petrol used to. When Unleaded was introduced you had to be careful not to put leaded fuel in a car made for unleaded as it would 'kill' the catalytic converter.
