I an trying to print out some old black & white photos, I have scanned them and using a photo printing program (corel Photo/Print House) set the printer an Epson Photo R285 to print, when I test print on ordinary paper it comes out as it should be in black & white but when I put in Photo paper (Staples Premium Glossy)
for some reason it comes out red (where it should be black) & white, can anybody tell me why?

Is there a advanced settings tab? You may need to tell the printer to print as greyscale with that paper.
Have you selected black/greyscale only?...

Also, try selecting 'paper type' manually, instead of the auto sense function on the printer.

Thanks catsrcool but yes I have tried that, I have set everything to b&w or greyscale and it works fine on ordinary paper but as soon as I load photo paper no matter what I do it comes prints red & white, I cant even take out the red cartridges as the printer will not work without a full set.
Check the settings on your printer (on the machine itself, not just on the computer display) and make sure that the setting is to print B & W, not colour (or, color as some machines have it).
