Weird Experience - Haunted Printer

Last night I was watching tv and although the laptop on the desk was on I was not using it. When it was time for bed it had shut down so I closed the lid - which I don't usually do. Just above the laptop is my printer on a shelf. This morning when I came down there was a piece of paper which had come out of the printer sitting on the closed laptop with a picture of a man's face but I have no idea who it is or how it got there! Is it possible for anyone to remotely send a picture to my laptop/printer? Had I not closed the lid I would have thought maybe one of the dogs had pressed something but it is a real mystery!

It is possible I suppose, that if your printer is wifi enabled, and you have neighbours that are within range of the handshake signal, that they have either accidently(using auto connect) or by design hooked up with your printer. If they have asked for a print of something whilst using their pc/lappie and not checked which available printer they are asking to print that they may have instructed yours to print. Good job he wasn't naked. :))

Well I suppose that's a better answer than it being haunted!
Do the same tonight...;)
i'm going to be very careful now when i select the printer for the snaps of me and doris . . .
G'morning lankeela ......You have said...."When it was time for bed it had shut down so I closed the lid."

Firstly, I would mention that laptops do not shut down of their own accord; an on screen button has to be activated withing the start menu. Leaving a laptop in an 'on position', after a period of time, if unused, will send it into sleep mode and can be reactivated very quickly, without waiting for a 're-booting'.

I think that perhaps your laptop was only asleep and, if your 'Router, Laptop and printer are connected wirelessly, a signal arrived via your broadband and activated your equipment. Certainly Not a paranormal printout.

Out of interest, please let me know how you restarted your laptop for the occasion under discussion and what has been your normal
procedure when the lid is left open. Perhaps then I can think of a real reason which could be along the lines as suggested by Togo.

Hans.
What is the make and model of the printer?
Could somebody else in your household printed it off from their device?
// when i select the printer for the snaps of me and doris . . .//
doris the donkey or
doris the horse?

and are you er riding the donkey or is it ....
I have my laptop set to shut down when the lid is closed.
I can also print on my printer from my mobile phone, laptop, or surface pro when I am not at home.
yes my sister can print to my printer when she is 170 miles away in her home.

Normally I shut it down the usual way by closing all pages and then pressing the shut down button. Because I was tired last night and it had gone to sleep I just closed the lid, then this morning opened it and pressed the power button which brought it back on to the page I was last looking at. I live alone so nobody apart from dogs here - the picture was weird, a sort of selfie of a smiling man with a beard and glasses filling an A4 sheet rather like something from a horror movie.
does the image look like the little baby Jesus
or the Virgin Mary?
er or both
no oint in wasting paper
Many WiFi enabled printers have an email address so one can print to them by emailing a document or picture to the address so at a guess this is either some form of spam/mistake/joke
of it bearded
then it cant be Baby Jesus
Question Author
Definitely not baby Jesus unless he went to Specsavers. Could be the Virgin Mary because I don't think they had ladyshaves back then.
