I have noticed this seems to be used a lot lately especially on television when someone is being asked a question they begin the answer with so......blah blah blah

I have a habit of starting with "well.......".
it sort of summarises what's been said so far: "If all that you say is so [ie true], then..."
I do people it's happening more. It's one of those things you pick up from other people without realising you're even doing it. I do it quite a lot, it drives my dad crazy.
I hate it when someone ends a conversation "....just saying" - it is annoying on-line too.
It's very Dutch....."Zo........." heard all the time over there.
The ones that irritate me the most are -----'you know' and 'basically'.
I hate it. I think it sounds really 'valley gurl'.
'So I was totally going to get hair extensions like Britney but she's like such. A. Bitch right now!'
end of.

it both annoys and amuses me how people think by putting "end of" that others will suddenly accept their (usually incorrect or stupid or both ) statement as being the final word on the matter
I do that, did it in an email earlier actually... i tend to do it when I'm about to summarise something.
The DJ on my local radio station has just brought up the subject of people who start their sentences with "So" I think he must be a secret AB reader when he is playing the songs.
'' I mean '' is used a lot at the start of a sentence.
'Obviously' is the one I hate. Most of the time its not obvious & is used in the wrong context.
Grr.. Yes. I first noticed Lily Cole doing that when talking about her rain forest project, recently. It makes it sound like she's explaining something hard to grasp to us plebs.
Most of these words are merely to give a person time to think of an answer.
Annoys the hell outta me. But hey....
I'm quite guilty of starting sentences with So... but only on here or FB.

I think I do it because it's a more casual way of writing, I wouldn't dream of doing it in a more official or "proper" place than here.

(So!) apologies to all those offended!
