Think I may have just seen my first siskin. What do you think? About the size of a sparrow, black cap, grey underside and yellow/green back and wings. If not a siskin, what else could it be?

sounds like a siskin to me, I have them all the time in my garden, does it have white stripes in the wings?
Put it through the RSPB identifier : http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdidentifier/form.aspx
It's usually pretty accurate.

Thanks folks. Had a look at the link Graham and I'm pretty sure it is a siskin. Will have a closer look next time I see it langara to see if I can spot white stripes in the wings.
The most similar bird that it may be mistaken for, I think is the green finch.
