No, but I think McCains come fairly close.
I have an electric deep fat fryer, but as you say, oven ones can be more convenient & economical with energy if using oven for something else at the same time. I`ve tried most brands but have been really pleased with Sainsburys "oven crispy fries" which we`ve just been trying over the last week.
I've never found any that do.
I actually prefer McCains home fries! And they are very low in fat. They have been acknowledged as actually being one of the best ways you can eat potatoes, (other than in their skins with no added salt or any fat)
Years ago I used to go and visit my grandmother in Cyprus and she would do homemade egg and chips. The chips were done in a shollow frying pan and the eggs were fried in the same oil afterwards. The chips came out perfect and the eggs came straight from her hen pen the same day. Lovely! x
Yum that sounds delicious
Yep have to agree Mary - home made are the best but fat chips for me every time - cant be doing with the skinny ones.
What is the best way of cooking oven ready chips. Should they be done as they are or is it better to add some oil. So far I've found 1min in the micro followed by 1/2mins under the grill b but nothing is as good as those from the chippy.
