Spoof Txt

Has anyone on AB heard of Spoof txt.I received a few text messages last night with the mobile number of my daughter`s present boyfriend saying stupid things...my daughter told me a few people she knows had had them too and that she is almost sure it is the father of her daughter doing it with this new thing "Spoof txt"...while the texts ,in this instant,were not malicious ,they could be if the sender wanted them to be,causing untold trouble.
So apparently ,how it works is,you can send a text using someone else`s number...absolutely ridiculous!!!
Have looked it up on the net and I think it is really only to be used as a bit of fun...to be I think it it NOT!!!!!

Not heard of it, but have heard of something similar years ago, don't think the company lasted long.
It' open to all sorts of abuse if it's not monitored.

Not April the first is it ? Surely this wouldn't be allowed since I suspect it could be used for criminal activity. Such texts may be believed and not checked first.

I think it is disgusting...yet there are a few websites for it...read one through and found that one has to pay to send these messages...but the whole concept is beyond belief!!!!!

yep, its true. my hubby got sent the software for this a few years ago and he couldnt believe it would work. So he tested it and send my daughter a txt from me,worked.

I agree, dont think the one we got sent is still in action but yes my daughters fone had a txt on it from 'me' and my number, and I hadnt touched my phone.

Maybe all should bring this to the attention of our MP ?

Good idea OG, however, I've a feeling that they're operating within all necessary legalities, there will be nothing they can do.

Yes but MPs make the law. If they are convinced someone might bring the issue up in The House.
