pop up box for Firefox, 19.0 keeps coming up, any reason to download it, any reason not to. I still can't access my bank account properly on line using Firefox, have installed latest Kaspersky security, no problem there, but for some reason trying to open out bank account transactions in firefox doesn't work, it used to but doesn't now. It does in IE8, which is an irritant as don't use it as the browser generally.

It is always advisable to up-date FF for security and compatibility purposes.

A good reason for you to up-date to FF19 is because you have installed Kaspersky which was known to play up somewhat with FF18 and that problem I believe has now been resolved.

Just updated mine. why wouldn't you ? Must be more secure I'd guess.
I've updated and so far things are working good, no problems encountered yet.
At least you're being asked. Firefox updates to the latest version on my PC without any yea or nay from me.

haven't see the message again today, but i guess that i will download it, hope it's ok when it does. I loaded the Kaspersky a week ago, and needed advice before installing Firefox 19.0, still don't know why can't open my bank transactions in Firefox though...
em...Hopefully, when you have downloaded FF19, you will be able to open the pages which you require. It is possible that Kaspersky is regarding the pages as being suspect because of there having been a previous incompatibility with previous FF Browsers....That's just my thoughts on the issue.

Question Author
i have downloaded the lastest firefox, however I can open my online banking account, see the balance, but if i want to open it out and look at the transactions it stops working, and all left with is the top bit, barclays.........
then at the very top of the screen it comes up with Firefox is not responding, and won't let me log out of my bank account, so have to shut the whole lot down, it's a pain the in bum.
Question Author
this has been happening for a number of weeks, it worked before no problem, i can access the whole account and open all transactions if i use IE8. but it means chopping and changing...
It may be that the new version of Firefox is now incompatible with whatever plug-in may be used by the bank's website.
You can check the status of your plugins quickly at https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
Worth a try.
To be honest, although I update my Firefox regularly I'm thinking of stopping as I frequently have problems with new versions.
I'd say that the security implications were minimal, provided you do update occasionally and use a virus checker and firewall.
Question Author
this happened with the old version of firefox, i have just updated it today to the 19.0
all the security needs are met with Kaspersky, which i have also just renewed...
Well perhaps the previous version of Firefox was the one that caused the problem, if any, with plugins. In which case there'll still be a problem until you update the plugins.
Always assuming that is the issue of course
"At least you're being asked. Firefox updates to the latest version on my PC without any yea or nay from me. "

Heathfield, it all depends on your settings. Go in your browser and into

-tools
-options
-advanced

and check the box of your choice.

I selected - "Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them".
This way I have a choice whether I want the update or not.
Yes thanks society. I've now done that actually. Been meaning to for ages.
In fact I had mine set to let background service check for and install updates
Are you certain that you have up-dated fully FF;or perhaps only downloaded the the activation file and Not run it as an installation for your Comp.?

Open FF 'Help' then click 'About Firefox' and if it doesn't show FF 19 then you will need to open your downloads folder and 'run' the file.

Checking your 'Add-ons' is also worthwhile to ensure that they are compatible. Normally this happens when 'up-dating' but it is worthwhile checking that all is ok. You could also try de-activating the 'add-ons' to see what happens.
