Malta Buses. Has Anyone Been Lately?

I know there was a plan to scrap all the yellow buses. Has the change happened yet and what's it like now. Thanks.

Yes it's happened. A shame really as the yellow buses were purely Malta, dodgy suspension, no air conditioning etc, but everyone seemed to want a ride on one. Not the same anymore. I don't know if the Arriva buses are air conditioned or not tho'.

yeah....great fun, until you're pressed against some 30 stone Maltese bloke with a severe personal hygene problem whilst on my way to Valetta !!!!!

it happened shortly before i went there on holiday in 2011

they were still ironing out the bugs, but the services were quite good

I remember in the 60's, the buses were all different colours with contrasting stripe along the side, depending on which route it took. You never had to look for the destination - just the colour!

Yep - the changeover happened in the middle of our fortnight there a couple of years ago. It was chaos for the first couple of days!

...and I agree re the bendy buses, we saw more stuck on the narrow streets than they were prepared for...
