What are all you veggies having on Sunday? Can't believe many turkey- lovers feel sorry for me at Christmas. It is my fave meal of the year too! Those roasted veggies, the cranberry sauce, parsnips. This year I have a recipe called Carrot, Chicory and Chestnut Tarte Tatin. All caremelised in pastry with stilton cheese. Roll on Christmas....

i know how you feel!

I just love the spuds and veggies and usually just have extra - and only occasionally do i buy some slices of "cheatin chicken" or something.

I went to an ex boyfriends once and his mum gave me two massive veggie burgers (breadcrumbs and mashed up veg ones!) and it just didn't go with the gravy etc

going to my brothers this year and i think his wife is cooking up a real feast and is going all out to make up for my lack of turkey so should be interesting!

Hiya,

I have been a veggie for 16 years (since I was 13) and my Mothers a Demi-Veggie as such I dont really remember eating Turkey at Christmas

We always have a Quorn Roast (a big roll of TVP basically) and all the usual stuff (Roast Potatoes, Parsnips & Sprouts <yak> etc)

As for meat eaters pitying you...yeah I get that a lot too("ooh but don't you miss meat?" "Christmas isn't Christmas without Turkey" etc)

I am quite happy with loads of really good veg , veg gravy and veg stuffing. My Mother in Law insists i have something 'meaty' which usually consists of a couple of cheapo veggie burgers (bless her).
Believe it or not i actually really like nut roast. I only ever have it at Christmas but a decent one is really nice. Some nice baked sage and onion stuffing is just as good though.
I'm not a veggie and will be having turkey. However, it's the roast spuds, roast parsnips and sprouts that I really enjoy along with Yorkshire puddings and gravy. I've just posted my meat-free stuffing recipe further down the page. Enjoy your lunch.
I will be having Quorn Roast and all the usual extras.Im a very strict vege. I believe Vegetarianism is part of evolving and I tell people Im further evolved than they are!! But seriously one day everyone will be vegetarian. Its like smoking, once you stop you realize how bad it was for you. merry christmas xxxxx Amanda

I have a vegetarian friend who is cooking a 'Mushroom Wellington' for her Christmas dinner. She googled Vegetarian Christmas Dinners and found it on a site.

I'm dreading her plonking it in my Christmas stocking, not that I have anything against vegetarian food. I'm cooking a goose by the way and am glad you lot cannot get your hands on my throat.
Have a lovely Christmas. :-)

Aww Drusilla I'd never think badly of anyone's food choice!:) Was a chef for years; used to cooking loads of meat. Like Dahmerqueen I gave it all up in my teens. Mr Sunflower loves all that Quorn stuff; not so keen myself but each to their own. Happy feasting, whatever you eat. xxx
I make a three-layer pie: bottom layer of spinach and feta; the middle layer of wild mushrooms and a top layer of roasted red peppers in a tomato sauce. It's cooked in a puff pastry case and served with a red wine and shallot sauce. Then there'll be roast spuds, spicy red cabbage, honey and sesame parsnips, glazed carrots and, of course, sprouts. Yum, yum.

It wouldn't be the turkey I'd miss, it'd be the wee sausages wrapped in bacon. The best part of Christmas dinner for me :)

At my work we're doing a nut roast for the vegan and veggies and it's gorgeous, comes with all the trimmings and is probably nicer than what most people are having on sunday :)

-- answer removed --

Yep I like all the trimings, they go well with my pinenut roast.(:)And we are all veggie in my house..(:)

Happy...xmas.))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

For idea check out http://www.quorn.co.uk/ and click on recipes.

We get very few veggie products here in Spain. Though my fav. Quorn was a sliced meat style, with stuffing in the middle, in a lovely gravy.
