Grendel's Winter Ale @ 5.8% from the Beowulf Brewery, Staffs.
Very Dark, monstrously robust and full-bodied. It is dry hopped and bursting with flavour.
A great Beer to drink sitting by a Log Fire on a cold Winters day.
Available last Sat from 'The Post Office Vaults', Birmingham.
Rowan and I regard it as one of our favourites.
Also recommended...
Sheriff IPA @ 5.5% from Lincoln Green Brewery, Notts.
A true India Pale Ale, using only UK hops and with a strong bitterness and citrus/ orange aroma.
Black Knight @ 5.3% from Goffs Brewery, Winchcombe
A very dark ruby red tinted beer with chocolate malt aromas and a hint of vanilla. Very smooth, very rich dry malt flavours with a subtle hoppiness. A classic winter porter.

In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria.
Happy drinking, folks !! :-))

cheers Red, I'll buy a bottle tomorrow (funds permitting, if not Friday) and hopefully will be around to let you know! If not, I'll text Welshy and he can give you my comments :-D xx
It's not the nicest bottled beer though I'd be more likely to recommend one of the Innis and Gunn ones the rum finish is very nice... or maybe even spitfire if you want a shepherd neame beer
They did have another one (can't remember the name), trying to get the heathens up here to appreciate anything other than whisky and irn bru and deep fried pizzas or mars bars is an ongoing battle.
I think Lidls are also doing spitfire, marstons pedigree and another one for the same price.

There were 4 bottled ales they were selling - all standard stuff you'd get anywhere. Pedigree's my pick of the bunch. Its everywhere but still a good beer.
