My five month old cat had pins put in her legs a couple of months ago and yesterday she had them taken out. shes had stitches before and they didnt seem to bother her, but as soon as we got her home from the vet she just started pulling at them really hard. so we had to go back and get one of those lamp collars. she's a very active kitten and absolutely hates this collar. shes a small cat aswell and she can barely move around or eat, she just looks so sad, but as soon as you take the collar off she bites them again. has anyone got any other suggestions instead of the collar?? im not sure if the vet didnt put a dressing on because they wanted the wound to heal, im not sure. how bout plaster - although she will probably lick them off, or maybe putting a sock over her leg?? cheers for the suggestions.

A sock, loosely taped on, can help. Often wounds are best left uncovered though. To be honest, I'd really persevere with the collar and ask your vet if you can get the wound re-checked in a few days time - that way the stitches can be removed as soon as possible.
Oops, hadn't finished! Just to say that it's better she is miserable for a few days with the collar on than she manages to chew the wound open and has to have it restitched, or gets it infected etc etc.
