Is it time we turned our thoughts from Windmills to Storm drains ?

Without doubt the World's weather is changing. This is no surprise as a trip to the Natural History Museum wil soon show you that the Earth is far from stable, as is the whole of the Universe.

For too long nutters have argued that it is the greenhouse gasses and Governments(of all persuasions) have loved this using it as an excuse to tax us to the hilt (well in this country they do) and at the same time been let of the hook for dealing with the real problem.

It is now quite apparent we need to take drastic action. Sticking a load of windmills up is not going to do anything, what we need are measures such as storm channels and drains, dredging of rivers and stop building on flood plains !

But any likely hood of this happening?

Climate change is of course a natural phenomenon, but a lot of research and evidence heavily suggests that aspects of it are driven by man-made factors which we might be able to control.
On the other hand there are plainly things that need to be done, and are being done in this country at least, to counteract the effects of extreme weather which may or may not be the result of man-induced climate change.
I don't see that there's necessarily a conflict between the two. When did anyone say that we should carry on building on flood plains, for example, because in a few years time we'll have solved the problem and everything will be just your normal average weather again :-)
Extract from our local paper after the third flood this summer. "This was due to a blockage in the culvert, which included a shopping trolley and a pushchair"
don't think there is such a thing as normal average weather, i haven't seen much sun this year at all, it's been rain, grey skies and more rain.

And do you think they would let us live side by side with them in their world?

And after they had almost gobbled us all up, would they then set up programmes to save us? :0)
I remember as a little girl going to watch the dredger working, now the river isn't dredged and every year we see pictures of a very pretty, flooded York.
<And after they had almost gobbled us all up, would they then set up programmes to save us? :0) >

LOL

I hear that dogs and wolves are quite good at raising human babies

On a more serious note, it would help if the Chinese didn't 'gobble up' so many bits from endangered species for their damned 'medicines' and soup!
