Is it time we turned our thoughts from Windmills to Storm drains ?

Without doubt the World's weather is changing. This is no surprise as a trip to the Natural History Museum wil soon show you that the Earth is far from stable, as is the whole of the Universe.
For too long nutters have argued that it is the greenhouse gasses and Governments(of all persuasions) have loved this using it as an excuse to tax us to the hilt (well in this country they do) and at the same time been let of the hook for dealing with the real problem.
It is now quite apparent we need to take drastic action. Sticking a load of windmills up is not going to do anything, what we need are measures such as storm channels and drains, dredging of rivers and stop building on flood plains !
But any likely hood of this happening?

Long time since I heard such poorly argued ill informed tripe.
Quick call up the Royal Society - I'm sure they'll tear up all that carefully researched evidence as soon as they see that you've pointed out that the Earth changes.
You don't suppose there's any chance they might already have taken that into account?
No chance the worlds exerts might know more about this than you and your day trp to the Natural History Museum?

I'm afraid I don't understand the question either: the questioner agrees that the world's climate is changing but on the one hand seems to suggest that there's nothing that can be done about it and therefore we shouldn't be taxed "to the hilt". While on the other hand - hang on - something needs to be done about it!

It is human expansion and exploitation that is putting Tigers, Orang Utans, sharks etc into an extinction position not to forget all the thousands of species of flora and fauna being wiped out by deforestation before we hardly know they exist.

There's a sensible question in there somewhere, which is should we stop wasting time and money trying to halt inevitable climate change, and instead focus our energies on figuring out how we're going to adapt and survive to that change?
My personal view is that we should be doing all we can to slow it down, to give us more time to figure out the survival bit.
I'm a bit pessimistic about our ability or willingness to change our way of life enough to halt man made global warming.

Zuehl, so it is, mankind has become the enemy of many of the world's creatures, i am a firm believer that all things have a place in this world, a reason to be, and we are just a small part of that.

One danger is that the obsession with 'carbon' has sidelined other issues that we used to hear al lot more about; heavy metals and other toxic materials now in creatures and the environment in every corner of the planet includinge antarctica, tiny plastic fibres invading life forms across the planet, the oceans eco system on the verge of collapse due to industrial fishing, and not least - deforestation; if stopped would not only save thousands of species it alone would help counter the 'carbon' factor

True. But I never understood why when it was allowed, the houses weren't like the ones I saw in Australia or the souther states of america i.e built on stilts.
The ground floor had garage and leisure space and when the once in a blue moon floods occured there was a minimum of damage
