I am soon to recieve my new computer (XP version), but have some important files i want to transfer over from my present comp(Windows 98). Is there an easy inexpensive way of doing this without making my old hard-drive the slave (its on its last legs anyway),that the average joe can do, Thanks for your help in advance.

You could burn all your files to CD or memory stick and transfer them into your new one when you get it
p.s. The CD's are cheaper, you'll be able to pick up a pack for around 5 whereas a memory stick is anything from 30 up (at my last look at prices of them anyway!)
You can Migrate the files from your old PC using Win XP Wizzard and a cable to connect your two PCs ...commoner.
