the fingermarks on the paintwork, the dust under the tele, the bits in the cutlery drawer, the spill in the fridge and all the other hidden muckiness, until you've got someone coming to stay tomorrow?

We have a high window in the downstairs toilet. Don't remember the last time I cleaned the window sill. I work on the understanding that the average person tall enough to see it will be a man...who will probably not give a monkey's about the dust. LOL
Tops of door frames. I am sure my guests walk round wiping their fingers along to find the dust up there.
This poem must have been written just for you (and me!) Tilly .....

DUST IF YOU MUST

Dust if you must
But wouldn’t it be better,
To paint a picture, or write a letter,
Bake a cake, or plant a seed?
Ponder the difference between want and need.

Dust if you must.
But there is not much time
With rivers to swim and mountains to climb!
Music to hear, and books to read,
Friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must.
But the world’s out there
With the sun in your eyes,
the wind in your hair,
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain.
This day will not come round again.

Dust if you must.
But bear in mind,
Old age will come and it’s not kind.
And when you go, and go you must,
You, yourself, will make more dust.

Thanks Ann. I'll take heed of that when they've been and gone.
Who have you got staying - Kim and Aggie? lol
Have they been and gone yet Tilly and did they spot anything?
My cutlery draw is lke yours sounds, crumbs everywhere. I have been hiding stuff ever since we put our house on the market. Trouble is I can't always remember where I've put it all. As a last resort I just put stuff in the car until they've gone.
I've posted this before:

If you must notice my dust, please don't write in it...

and

If you must write your name in my dust, please don't date it!
Lol @ Sheen. That's good thinking.
I tidy up by hoovering, and gathering the cat fluff off the stairs - getting rid of the stair carpet was one of the best things we ever did.
Sometimes, the best thing is when guests arrive totally unexpectedly. They don't notice the dust, etc. To be honest, unless a house is really dirty then I don't notice anything when I visit people. They come to see you not to assess your housekeeping standards.

My housework has got less and less over the years. The older I get the more I realise that there is more to life than keeping a house spotless.

Obviously the areas that matter like loos, sinks and worksurfaces are always clean.
I've not long had one laid. I wanted floorboards but as it was an insurance job we had to have carpet....like for like.

Guests are still here. Going home today.
Did they spot any dust? Bet they didn't...

I'll tell you later, ummmm. Can't say too much at the moment. Will soon need to go and start breakfast.
Have you got gossip?? :-)
