I'm thinking of getting a weighted one to help strengthen my core, obliques and abdominal muscles.
Have you used one for fitness before and what would be the best weight to get?
Amazon has many but they seem a little extortionate, is there a cheaper place to get one from?

They sell them in Toys R Us, but I don't know how that would compare pricewise
Weightwatchers sell a weighted hula hoop - maybe have a look at their online store?
Personally no but i know someone who does and loves hers xx
I wish I hadn't seen your post - I could murder a packet of beefy hula hoops just now.
Salt and Vinegar for me wolf ...
I can't get the salt and vinegar ones round my waist.
It has to be the beefy ones or McCoy's flamegrilled. I think that I will go out once I have dried my hair. :-)
I prefer crisps, myself.

As for a full sized hoop, no expert, but whilst I can see it may increase flexibility I'm sceptical about it's ability to make one fitter compared to alternative exercises. Still, proabably better than being a couch spud like me I suppose.
I'd join a class if I were you, to be sure that you are doing it right - but be warned, my niece goes to a class and she is black and blue round her midriff from the weights.
