My OH confided last night that he has had an aching leftie for "several weeks" (in Mr BM speak that probably means "several months"). He says that about 15 years ago he was told he had a cyst there which he thinks has got bigger (I had noticed the cyst, but haven't noticed a change). One night, he said the pain woke him up, but most of the time it is an intermittent ache. He also says the gland in his thigh is swollen. He has no other symptoms and everything else is quite normal (including libido).

Now I am hoping for a "no big deal" answer as to what it could be. Despite my protestations, Mr BM apparently does "not have time" to see his GP this week. I told him he was being a bit silly and it is probably nothing at all, but he ought to get it checked out. Until I win that particular argument, I am looking for some words of comfort to stop me laying awake all night worrying.........

This statement almost certainly rules out malignant disease.

The swelling is almost certainly in the epididymus and not the testicle and is either a spermatocoel or more likely a varicocoel, but...

UPDATE: My brave Mr BM went to see his GP this morning. GP seems to think it is absolutely nothing to worry about. The swelling in the inside leg he thinks is a varicose vein (so Sqad is on the money so far). However, as a precaution they are sending him for an ultrasound. GP said that they could operate if it continues to cause discomfort (and a cyst and varicose vein is all it is), but Mr BM nearly passed out at that point.
aww the poor brave love.

Am really pleased he went. Are you treating him tonight or punishing for the worry he has caused?

(I do like Woof's reply)
barmaid.

thank you for updating us.

regardless of what it is, or the next steps and outcome - you now know what is going on, and that must be something of a relief.

my best to him ... and my thoughts for you both

It is a relief that the GP is not overly worried.

As for treating him tonight, well we'll see ;)

I will update when there is more to tell.
Too much information about tonight, Barmaid.

Glad though it has worked out, so far.
