I don't know, but I do remember being in a pub a few years ago watching a natch that was showing in two different rooms, we had loads of fun, the other room was about five seconds behind us, when we realised we spent the rest of the match cheering and shouting at nothing just to wind them up.
traci. that sounds like a laugh, i wish i'd been there.

ronnie. it has something to do with 'renting' or 'buying' the signal.
it can only be passed on after it has been created - if you follow. therefore it stands to reason there will be a fraction of a delay
Different tvs in our house are like this
It used to be funny when Redman was watching on Sky sport and I was watching sky sport on Virgin and we were talking to each other by phone during the match it was like deja vu
Don't you know that Virgins don't go all the way :)
I was trying to watch the test match the other year on the internet while listening to TMS on the radio, couldn't understand what they were talking about until it dawned on me that the picture was one ball behind the commentry, most annoying!
Select a radio station on the tv and the same station on a radio and listen to them together - not for long I'll bet!!
Everybody can understand the fact that if you were to drive from one place to another via two totally different routes it's going to take a different amount of time, so it shouldn't be too hard a concept to grasp that an electrical signal travelling by two totally different routes is also going to take differing amounts of time.
takes all the stress out of watching scary movies too
It is because you are watching through a Virgin media box it takes a few seconds to process the signal , your neighbour is getting it direct. Same thing would happen if you were using a sky box and they were on freeview.
I have virgin media but I can also use freeview if I want to . As long as you have an aerial you can do the same if your TV has freeview built in most modern sets do .
Delays occur because we are going backwards. The higher more cutting edge the tech, the more you have to put up with. Not since the days of valve TVs have I waited so long as I do now for a channel to change. In fact I'm sure turning the dial to tune in was much faster then.
