We stay in a really rough area, and if I am being honest I would want to move asap but cant for various reaosns....

There is a lot of trouble around us, and our wee flat has been broken into twice in the past 2 years....Police have never caught who did it.

Not really so much of a question as an observation, has anyone else had this much trouble in the area which they come from? I just feel that we are so unlucky at the minute, and that living ANYWHERE would be better than living here......!
Cant afford to move. I only work part time in a low paid job......!
I want to enjoy it as we like outr flat but in the same breath it's only when you step outside that you realise just how bad it is......has been getting........youths hanging around, shouting late at night, a junkie staying above us who is fighting wtih anyone who will listen......!

No, no drama happens round here.
A drunken yob left an empty polystyrene kebab box on our gate post last night.

We are moving.
we had a major break in the other night, fur flying everywhere

next doors cat popped in, murph was not impressed
If you can't afford to move...can you join with other like minded residents to try to improve things
Wow fluffy, did you phone 999 ?

LOL at all, Being serious though guys it can be really draining each morning wakening up wondering "what's next"........ :-(
And.....before you suggest I am a naturally miserable person (LOL) - I am really not!! Actually remarkably (maybe too so) upbeat for everything that's happened to us!!
With Murph she'd need to phone 666

Petty is there doesn't seem to be many "like minded" folk living here....
no need, murph took care of things
Be determind to move and you will Frilly.
Think about it hard and you'll find a solution.
Are you able to do anything about your work? Find a full time/better paid job?

Not really Evian, as my job is where I live, which makes it even harder as I also don't drive......
If you are in low paid work would you be eligible for social housing?

Already claiming everything we can....just seems like we will never have enough money to move that's all, just a rant more than an "actual plan", as I feel that we are nowhere near that as yet.....
Always hope for some time in the future, just not just yet....
not sure what anyone here can say really.

but rather than moaning - do something.

organise neighbourhood watch - contact other organisers and see how its done.

ask residents to club together to get cctv intsalled in communal areas - also fit your own. spend some money on home security - do online searches for general tips, like hiding valuables, making it look like someones home, fitting locks, displaying security stickers in windows etc

look into the 'green' schemes ... gather residents and arrange to do up the street ... bit of gardening, painting, tidying etc - as a community

speak to the police about your concerns and see what they say - if they can offer any guidance.

as i say, moaning wont stop it. so maybe if you take a more proactive route

i know someone who claims they went to the local community centres and got loads of posters and notices etc even made thier own, on clubs and socs and activities in the wider areas, and put them up nearer where the kids hang about - and it sort of worked - the kids began to explore other options that they hadnt known about - not sure if that would work but could be worth a try.
stuff like climbing, biking etc
not just the nearest local centre though, as they will probably have seen them there.
Also if there is a nearby green space pester the council for a basketball court or skateboard park they don't take up a lot of space but do give the kids somewhere to hang out which is their own space... we have them all over birmingham and they are quite well used
have you thought about moving via private rent? there are some affordable options if you are desperate
