He couldn't. The person in the audience was a plant...
He didn't guess it the people are 'stooges' set up for the show just like all the other 'Mediums' . They plant people in the audience and pretend they are picked at random it is all a set up for the gullible.
If you wish for evidence of survival of bodily death then really you need to experience a medium telling you things they could not have known via normal means, for yourself. The only impressive experience for someone is their own experience: not someone else's experience.
Up here its called the second sight and some things they tell you will make the
hairs on the back of your neck stand
> it is all a set up for the gullible.

And boy do they ever fall for it every time!

well i dunno wha to believe he has a very popular tv show surely if there were plants in the audiance all the while it would of been found out and he would of been disgraced, i guess unless you have something confirmed yourself theres no way of knowing shame if they are using someones sadness to suceed
Some people just want to believe that there is something and that there dearly departed is still well and happy on the other side.

One of my weekly magazines has a medium/psychic page. Some people write in and ask if their dog/cat/child/partner is now at peace and all that. I can't see the point, but if it gives people comfort we shouldn't just say that it is a scam (or whatever).

But like everything else it can be open to abuse and if the bereaved/vulnerable person has lots of money they might soon find themselves with much less money.

Susan the Scottish sarcastic cynic wanders off to have a chat with her long dead dog. :-)
"I'm getting the spirit of a young man whose name might begin with B". Given any group of, say, 250 people the chances are extremely high that at least one of them will have known a dead person whose name began with B.

You have to wonder, though, why a dead person's spirit who was capable of communicating the first letter of their name could actually manage to communicate the rest of it.
Bloody hell......uncanny, I think that's our Brian
He's got a popular TV show, so what ??
Remember Sally Morgan (Psychic Sally) ??
Well read this then:

My last dog was Robbie, so it could be Bob that you are thinking of Mark - does he mention the 'incident' with the postie?
How do explain a little boy who sees his dead teacher walking the school
corridors she died about 6 months before he seen her
There are loads of similar stories, including one in America where the information being fed to the "psychic" was accidentally broadcast over the PA.

The point about his success is well made, and there's no difference between them and televangelists - both prey on the gullible and vulnerable.
Wolfe, he wants you to know that he's very happy in doggy heaven. That'll be £150, please...
Mediums in general and John Edwards in particular inspired one of the better South Park episodes :)

There are lots of documented ways in which a "medium" can pick up on apparently personal information, not least of which are plants in the audience, staff listening into audience conversations and picking up on potential targets / stories.

I remain very sceptical of these performers, personally.....
Manjo - there could be something out there and if people want to believe then so be it. But there is money to be made and that brings out the scam artists.

Mark - I have to wait until I get the £10million from the guy in Nigeria then I will pay you. :-)
I have a very open mind about this but can say I have been to 1 or 2 mediums who told me things about me that no-one could possibly have planted from anywhere earthly.
Two days before my Mum died she said to me, 'When I die, if I can. I will come back and see you and let you know how I am.' She has not been to see me so far and that was nineteen years ago.
what they forget to tell you that they have prayer cards in the lobby for you to fill in. the details of your prayer and who its for! James Randi has offered $1000000 to anyone that can demonstrate paranormal abilities under laboratory conditions
they could easily win this money and build a new hospital wing
no takers yet! Why?
I have seen Sally Morgan and she is a load of rubbish. Half the show she told us about her childhood in Fulham - as if we were interested - we went to see her psychic ability (if any), not about her home life.
