My closest friend is the mother of a cop and she asked me to share this. I'm not making any comment, but it's worth watching this through to the end. Food for thought.
Kiki what a brilliant video. There is so much we do not hear about. Didn't know about salaries being cut, losing pay when injured is disgusting. Thank you for highlighting it.
Thanks for replying, carandrog. We hear so much about police brutality/racism/corruption/insert-the-vice-o
f-your-choice,
but we overlook the horrible things they have to address on a day-to-day basis. My friend's lad's first day at work as a 19-year-old involved sitting alone overnight in a room with a dead baby to ensure that evidence wasn't tampered with. It kind of puts things in perspective, doesn't it? Thanks again. x
Thanks, New Judge. I did follow that thread with interest.
I think the point is that we only tend to hear about the cock-ups - the Fiona Pilkington case, for example, was appalling. But the day-to-day work is generally taken for granted.
But I've shared the video as I was asked, so it's up to other people to make of it what they will.
I dated a girl who joined the police. On her first night on duty she was coshed by a burglar, and later on she had to take the boots off a dead tramp - talk about a baptism by fire!

Do you know the answer?
Could you do this job? And would you want to anyway?
