Can anyone please help diagnose

Morning, my mum is nearly 70yrs old, she has controlled high blood pressure,also high cholesterol 7.2, she has recently found 3 painful veins just under the skin in her stomach, 1 of them goes down the side of her navel, and the other 2 curve eitherside,if she touches them or leans against something they are very sore, you can also feel them, im thinking on the lines of furring arteries with her cholesterol being high, she also gets terrible pains in both legs either side of her shins, and pain in her groin, could any of those symptoms be related to one another or not, any help appreciated, she has been on statins, and has tried quite a few but always ends up with side effects and now the doctor has said she will have to try to control it herself with diet and Benecol and such like, which isnt helping. Any help appreciated. Thanks

In my opinion 7.2 is not unusual and is not dangerous.
The leg pains are not associated with "furring" or "blocking of the arteries and there is nothing.....but nothing to suggest an aneurysm or clinical arteriosclerosis......in other words.....in my opinion, there is nothing to worry about and certainly nothing "life threatening."
This brings us back to the pains in her legs........these could be due to the side effects of her BP tablets (whatever they are)......could be.....but certainly not due to reduced blood flow due to vascular disease.
I agree with the posters that she should see her doctor, but nothing urgent about her situation.
Next Wednesday when she has her eye operation may be a good time to mention her symptoms to her doctor.

Thank you sqad feel a little less worried now. Just seen mum she dosn`t look too well to me, and the pains in her stomachare continuous now and she is forever rubbing her stomach, she has indigestion quite a lot too also. She says she may go to the doctor after her operation, she will see how she goes. Thanks again
Im sorry to ask again, but could it be ovarian cancer, ive just looked up on the Mcmillan website and she seems to have most of the symptoms for that, weight gain, excess belching, pain in lower stomach, back ache, or am i clutching at straws cos i just dont know? PS..... her sister died of ovarian cancer, and her father died of testicular cancer. x
Been thinking........they could have meant a ventral hernia. This is a split between the 2 muscles of the abdomen and may involve the "belly button" and is of little consequence unless it becomes blocked in which case an operation to repair it may be necessary. Again no big deal and the ultrasound indicate if there are any complicating features beneath.
Well tamirra, I have read through all the posts and you seem to have been given lots of diagnoses. However, you are no further forward, as to my knowledge there are no GPs on the site. Even if there were, they would not diagnose without first seeing the patient. It's hard if your mum has a phobia about hospitals etc. but really feel a visit to her GP is called for.
