Need to renew my PC security. I currently have Kaspersky for 3 PCs but will need enough for 4 shortly.

I have tried the free stuff such as AVG free and have ended up with viruses and having to get computer cleansed. I've been happy with Kaspersky but it is £45 to renew with them on-line if I go for a 5 licence pack. I'd like something cheaper but don't want to risk getting viruses again. I have 2 young boys and I cant watch everything they click on - one came running in to tell me he had won an iphone 4s - and I had to get him to not click on anything!!!

Can anyone recommend something good but not quite as pricey?

I think £45 is reasonable if it gives you peace of mind.

It's not extortionate craft, just feeling the squeeze a bit at the moment - tax for two cars, 2 services plus 1 mot, kids trip to Italy, childcare for the holidays coming up - trying to watch the pennies :o(
ChuckFickens works in the IT industry. He seems happy enough to recommend Microsoft Security Essentials to everyone, so it ought to be OK:

Get free anti virus (I'd currently suggest Microsoft security essentials) and lock down the young boys user accounts!
Right on cue, Chuck!

thanks guys - is it really as good as Kaspersky? Everyone said that AVG free was great, but I still had serious issues....and that was before the boys were let loose.
LOL, Chris :)

The problem here isn't bad anti virus, it's the kids having enough rights on the computer to install anything.

I have one obsessed with minecract - he plays on private servers and goes on skype and maybe a bit of minecraft videos on youtube. The other mainly watches youtube, plays games and skypes sometimes.
Just make sure they each have their own user accounts on the computer and they are not administrators, if they need anything legit installed then install it as an administrator account and they'll be able to use it under their login!

They have their own computers chuck, so I guess at the moment they are the admin on them. This sounds like it's gonna need a bit of sorting out. Currently uninstalling Kaspersky on my PC.
In that case make sure their user account on their "own" computers isn't an admin account and make sure only you have an admin account on every computer.

thanks chuck - i'll ask the 11 year old how to do that ;o)
Check this one out, recommended to me by local pc techie.

I have MSE free and never had a problem. But if you want Kaperski just get a Barclays bank account and register it for online use. They offer you free Kaperski to protect your account. You just need to open a basic cash card account and put £1 in it , do not need to touch the account again , you get free kaperski as long as the account is open.
PC World/Currys advertising Norton Internet Security 3-PC version for £27.
I really like kaspersky I wouldn't use anything else
