Do you think this Sculpture looks like an appropriate gift more for a guy or a girl?

It's a hand-crafted sculpture from West Africa, it's titled "Kiss"...think it makes a good gift for a boyfriend who's a bit artsy and cultured (likes sculptures)? or do you feel that it is feminine?

I do not think it is too feminine. It is quite elegant, but very modern. My home is quite traditional, but if I were a bachelor with a modern flat, I would love that piece.

Well that sounds like him all the way, he's a young guy with very modern taste and his place is fitted with contemporary pieces a lot like this...he is also from S. Africa, so I would think he could appreciate this piece...

Thanks for the feedback rampart

I think it is very nice ..I love the smoothness of it. Very modern...and if he has a contempary lifestyle ..it's ideal. If we lived in a modern type home this is the sort of thing I would love. I would have to keep picking it up and touching it.!!

haha

thanks shaneystar... and hello to Shane!

id be very happy to recieve that as a gift especially if i got a real kiss with it!
very nice HAnn - a lot of African art is much more representational than that, but this gets the human shapes while still looking partly abstract. You'd have to know enough about art to understand that not everything is representational, but sounds like it could be just right for your guy. Don't know if it's feminine or what, though.

Well thank you jno ...I have to say, I am gradually learning quite a bit about art, as I do work in an art museum here in the States...but your input has been noted.

I really just wanted to know if it seems too feminine of a piece for a guy to enjoy...I almost thought of keeping it for myself rather than giving it to him...but I think I've decided he will love it...

sorry HAnn, didn't mean to imply you knew nothing about art - I know about your job - I meant the recipient needed to be arty, which it sounds as if your man is.
