The water was cut off this morning without warning, I have bought several bottles of water from the local supermarket, but there were lots of people there doing the same thing. I have a water butt in the garden which will provide some water for washing and cleaning.
I hope that one day it will be possible to install water de-salination plants around the coast to make use of the sea water

This problem with your supply was nothing to do with "drought"- probably caused by a mains burst.
Desalination won't appear in this country. Not an option in UK for any decent amounts.
Just move to scotland, we have more water than we know what to do with....my back garden has been sodden for months, no evidence of drought here.

lol, it wont be that when you have a choice of French or Scottish water to drink.
Just a thought, maybe if everyone in Englandshire didn't keep a butt of water in their back garden there might be enough to fill the reservoirs........just sayin'
When the water is cut off do you get a refund? Probably not, same as when the electric has a melt-down.

I'm all for sending water to England, we do have a surplus :)
